The tuners by MFJ (USA) are powerful products, combining solid construction with useful functions and ease of use. And these products are affordable!
Most of the tuners shown here are suitable for a frequency range from 1.8 to 30MHz, some units also cover 6m.
The MFJ-993B is an automatic antenna tuner for coax- or parallel wire fed antennas. Integrated is a SWR and power meter, a switch for two antennas and a 4:1 balun. Impedance matching range is 6 to 1600 Ω from 1.8 to 30MHz. 2000 memory locations store once found settings, speeding up the tuning process when a frequency is later used again. Tuning starts automatically when transmit power is applied, manual tuning is also possible.
An analog meter shows SWR, further a LC display shows SWR, power, frequency and other information. Very useful for visually handicapped users is the acoustic feedback on SWR. Max. power load is 300W PEP SSB, 150W CW
The optional interface cable MFJ-5124I allow connecting the tuner to any Icom rig with the 4 pin tuner socket (e.g. IC-706, IC-7456Pro, IC-756Pro/2/3 and many more). Over this cable the tuner is controlled and supplied with power.
Equipment by Kenwood and Yaesu are connected with the cables MFJ-5124K (Kenwood) and MFJ-5124Y (Yaesu). Since these rigs require a somewhat more complex control the cables include an electronics component which makes them more expansive.
The MFJ-993B is optionally supported by a remote control unit.

The MFJ-974HB is a true "Balanced Tuner" for symmetrical feeder lines which offers an excellent current balance. Tuning range 12 to 2000Ω, frequency range from 1.8 to 54MHz, of course incl. all WARC bands. Max. power 300W PEP SSB, 150W CW. Tuning is easy with three tuneable elements, selectable circuit "Q" for efficient tuning at high bandwidths or extreme loads. Includes large, backlit cross-needle instrument (selectable 30/300W) which facilitates tuning, it shows SWR, return power and output power. Size 19 x 15 x 20 cm.
This tuner closes the gap between 300W and the large 3KW units.
MFJ-902 compact tuner
Very small tuner without SWR meter, suitable for any rig with built-in SWR meter like IC-706, FT-8x7, FT-100 etc. Tunes 10 to 80m, max. 150W, with bypass switch. Dimensions 112 x 57 x 75mm.
The MFJ-904H is the same as the MFJ-902 but includes a Cross-Needle SWR/Wattmeter and 4:1 balun for balanced lines and random wire. Cross-Needle meter shows SWR, forward, and reflected power all at a glance. Push button selects forward/reflected power in 300/60 and 30/6 Watt ranges. Measures a compact 7¼ x 2¼ x 2¾ inches.
300 Watt PEP, 300 Watt dummy load integrated.Cross needle instrument show forward and reflected power. Diemensions: 27 x 9 x 18cm
300W PEP, two position antenna selector, integrated 4:1 balun for parallel wire feed. Includes cross needle meter! Dimensions 27 x 7.5 x 18m
300 Watt PEP, very small: 20 x 5 x 15cm. Built-in cross needle instrument, low losses due to use of an aircore coil.
Similiar to MFJ-945, but with additional 4:1 balun for symmetrial antennas, but without bypass switch. Very compact size 15 x 18 x 6.5cm. Max. 300W PEP, instrument power range selectable 30/300W. Internally selectable to 6W for QRP operations. Illuminated cross needle instrument.
3KW tuner with aircore roller coaster coil. Cross needle instrument with PEP display. New type of differential var. capacitor, for very fast tuning. Six position antenna selector. With integrated balun 4:1.
Very useful product for rigs with built-in tuner. Most recent transceiver do have a built-in tuner, but those offer only a limited impedance range. This is where the MFJ-914 comes in. With the use of this tuner extender the impedance matching range is increased 10-fold, allowing to match nearly any antenna. No more problems due to component failures of the internal tuner. The "Off" Switch switches the antenna to ground and the transceiver to the external (optional) dummy load. Works on shortwave from 160 to 10m, max. 300W.
Matches nearly any wire, with max. 200W PEP. Translates high-z to low-z or vice versa by reversing the unit. Small dimensions: 20x13x9cm, also very useful for receiving-only antennas.
3KM tuner, improved with new aircore roller coaster coil. Built-in 300W dummy load, six position antenna selector. Even 6kV HF voltage does not bother this monster tuner. Integrated 3KW balun for parallel wire feeds.
300 Watt PEP, 8 way antenna switch integrated cross needle instrument, integrated dummy load, with balun 4:1 for parallel wire feeds. Instrument selectable for peak/average power measurement
The solution for insufficient grounding in the shack.
Transforms the present system into a nearly perfect ground system. Even if no grounding at all is available you can just lay out a wire. Useful against BCI/TVI or with 'hot' chassis. Useful when your shack has a very long connection to a ground system.
The MFJ-931 is installed between your rig and a ground feed and tuned to maximum ground current on the operating frequency. Frequency range 1.8 to 30MHz, dimensions 18 x 18 x 8cm.
Passive Preselector with high dynamic range! It improves the performance of nearly any HF or shortwave receiver/transceiver. It vastly improves the most expensive receivers. Especially helpful to those with broadband front-ends that are prone to overload.
Protects your sensitive receiver input from damage (including switching diodes and attenuator resistors) caused by very strong signals from multi-transmitter, multi-band operation -- contests, field day, nearby hams, CBers, TV/FM/AM stations.
It eliminates phantom signals by suppressing strong out-of-band signals that cause intermod, blocking and cross modulation. Completely eliminates second order intermod problems caused by strong out-of-band shortwave broadcast signals mixing and producing unwanted in band signals.
Has narrow bandwidth, excellent stopband attenuation, low loss, constant bandwidth and gain over each band. Excellent attenuation in adjacent contest bands.
The entire 1.6 to 33 MHz HF band is covered in five overlapping bands. An RF sense transmit/receiver switch with adjustable time delay automatically bypasses your MFJ-1048 when you transmit. Also has PTT line T/R switching. Plugs between antenna and transceiver. Fully shielded metal enclosure. Tough black finish.
