Magnetic Loop Antennas by Inac Spain

Inac is a manufactuerfrom Span, who develops and produces various electro.mechanical components. These components are also used to manufacture entire magnetic loop antennas. The Inac loops are characterized by their low weight and the usability with standard power levels of 100 W or more. The remote control of the capacitor is done with a stepper motor, a control unit is included in shipment.

AH-521 Mag.Loop 7-21MHz

INAC AH-521

The AH-521 is a magnetic loop antenna for portable or stationary use, with a size of 98 x 63cm. The tuning range covers the most important amateur radio bands from the 40m band over 30, 20, 17, 15 down to 12m. The lower tuning frequency goes down to 5.6 MHz and allows broadcast reception on the 49m band. The efficiency of magnetic loops is comparable good for small antennas, the manufacturer claims a gain of -0.3 to -6.8dB, depending on the band.

The supplied controller LAC-1 allows for a fast and easy tuning of the antenna. Tuning from one end of the band to the other takes about three seconds, fine tuning is possible with 5 kHz accuracy. Optionally the LAC-2 controller is offered, please see below. Tuning is done with the usual procedure for magnetic loops: you tune for maximum noise during reception, then transmit with low power and tune for minimum SWR. The position of the capacitor is deliberately not quite symmetrical, because this results in a more pronounced directional behaviour and different elevation angles in different directions, making the antenna more flexible to use.

By nature of their design magnetic loop antennas have a narrow bandwidth. This is beneficial, because this acts like a narrow pre selector filter in front of the receiver. The effect is fewer unwanted mixer products and overall improved reception quality. The manufactuer claims the usable bandwidths to range from 24 kHz on 7MHz and 130 kHz on 21MHz. This means that these bandwidths can be used without tuning the antenna, beyond these ranges the capacitor of the AH-521 needs to be tuned again.

The size of the loop itself is 79 x 63cm, size overall is 98 x 63cm. The weight is 5kg. The antenna comes with a 32cm long mast stub, 40 mm diameter. The installation height above ground is not critical, the antenna can be operated without losses approx. 2 to 3m above ground. This allows the use of the antenna for example in a base made for a parasol. When installed stationary the antenna should be installed on a solid metal mast. As with all magnetic loop antennas the proximity of metal constructions can influence the tuning ability of the antenna. The INAC loop AH-521 is designed for a maximum transmit power of 100 to 160 W (depending on the band).

Included in shipment is a 3 wire control cable, 5m long. Larger distances between controller and antenna are easily possible. The manufactuer suggests to use standard 3-wire installation cable. Up to 20m distance a cross section of 0.5mm² is sufficient, for larger distances a cross section of 1.5mm² is suggested. The control cable needs to be connected to the antenna and controller before use.

AH-1430 Mag.Loop 14-30 MHz

INAC AH-1430

The AH-1430 is a magnetic loop antenna for portable or stationary use, with a size of 98 x 63cm. The tuning range covers the amateur radio bands from the 30m band over 20, 17, 15, 12 down to 10m. The exact tuning range is given with 10.0 to 29.9 MHz. The efficiency of magnetic loops is comparable good for small antennas, the manufacturer claims a gain of -0.9 to -5.7dB, depending on the band.

The supplied controller LAC-1 allows for a fast and easy tuning of the antenna. Tuning from one end of the band to the other takes about three seconds, fine tuning is possible with 5 kHz accuracy. Optionally the LAC-2 controller is offered, please see below. By nature of their design magnetic loop antennas have a narrow bandwidth. This is beneficial, because this acts like a narrow pre selector filter in front of the receiver. The effect is fewer unwanted mixer products and overall improved reception quality. The manufactuer claims the usable bandwidths to range from 60 kHz on 10 MHz and approx. 160 kHz on 28MHz. This means that these bandwidths can be used without tuning the antenna, beyond these ranges the capacitor of the AH-1430 needs to be tuned again.

AX-330 Mag.Loop 3 - 30 MHz

AX-330 Loop

The AX-330 is a double magnetic loop antenna for portable or stationary use, with a size of 110 x 130cm. The tuning range covers the amateur radio bands from 80m to 10m. Finally a loop antenna for regular power levels and for the entire shortwave (except 160m). The exact tuning range is given with 3.4 to 30.5 MHz. The efficiency of magnetic loops is comparable good for small antennas, the manufacturer claims a gain of -0.2 to -7.6dB, depending on the band.

The AX-330 consists of two coupled magnetic loops, one inside the other. Both loops are tuned remotely and at the same time. Only one coaxial feed line and one controller cable is required. So you can use the entire shortwave range (except 160m) with one antenna, without switching different antennas.

The size of the outer loop is 110 x 96cm, size overall is 110 x 130cm. The weight is 10.5kg. The INAC loop AX-330 is designed for a maximum transmit power of 100 to 180 W (depending on the band).

INAC LAC-2 Controller

LAC-2 Controller

The LAC-2 is a controller for variable capacitors and the magnetic loop antennas by INAC. It offers a very high tuning precision by using an additional reduction. Eight turns of the tuning wheel result in 180° rotation of the capacitor. This large reduction results is very precise fine tuning and repeat accuracy.

Because of the fast transmission of the signals from the controller to the stepper motor of the capacitor, the 'feel' of the tuning is nearly as if you would handle the capacitor itself. The tuning happens very fast, the full range is done with a 180° rotation during 2 to 3 seconds. The connection of the LAC-2 is the same as the LAC-1 which comes standard with the INAC Loop antennas. This makes an upgrade to the LAC-2 very simple.
