This design can be used with all transceivers equipped with the IF-232 CAT interface and the DSP-100 option. The logging software controls the transceiver over the parallel port and receives band information over the serial port. Due to the use of the branch cable the Remote socket on the transceiver remains free for other purposes, e.g. amplifier. Keying over the serial port is not possible, because the handshake signals RTS and CTS are used by the DSP-100 option.
