Perseus Software Defined Radio
PERSEUS is a software defined VLF-LF-MF-HF receiver based on an outstanding direct sampling digital architecture. It features a 14 bit 80 MS/s analog-to-digital converter, a high-performance FPGA-based digital down-converter and a high-speed 480 Mbit/s USB2.0 PC interface.
A COMPLETE SDR RECEIVER FOR SHORTWAVES
The PERSEUS analog front-end has been carefully designed for the most demanding users and includes a 0-30 dB, 10 dB steps, attenuator, a ten bands preselection filters bank, and a high dynamic preamplifier with a top-class input third-order Intercept Point of more than 30 dBm. The resulting third-order dynamic range is more than 100 dB in SSB and more than 105 dB in CW.
Believe us, there's no other so performant and complete shortwave SDR receiver in the market today. The PERSEUS receiver can be operated also in a wide band mode as a 10 KHz - 40 MHz spectrum analyzer with more than 100 dB dynamic range in a 10 KHz resolution bandwidth.
SOFTWARE FOR DEMANDING USERS
Being a software defined radio, the PERSEUS receiver relies on software applications to carry out the demodulation process. Besides providing all the required software signal processing for the PC platforms, the PERSEUS software has a comfortable graphical interface, is simple to use and runs under Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Vista. All the controls a listener is used to see on a radio are there, in the application main window. The interface to third party software is provided in several ways, by means of the Microtelecom Software Defined Radio Developer Kit, virtual audio ports and virtual communication ports.
PERSEUS software supports now wideband spectrum record/playback at 1 MSPS with alias images rejection larger than 100 dB in a 1600 kHz bandwidth!
CIAORADIO is a compact software defined shortwave receiver (0,1 to 30MHz) for AM, FM, CW, SSB and DRM. The device has a built-in soundcard and requires only one USB connection between the box and the computer. Power is also supplied via the USB cable, making the CIAORADIO an ideal companion for travels.
Receive bandwidth can be freely adjusted, multiple notch filters can be defined.
A highlight of the supplied software is the permanently active panorama scope with 50kHz width. Just a click into the panorama screen tunes to the new receiving frequency.
The CIAORADIO has two switchable antenna inputs, with an external relay, controlled by the computer via RS-232 (required a simple interface), the two inputs can be selected and used for example for comparative antenna measurements.. Size 110 x 130 x 35 mm.
As optional accessory an active loopantenna is available.

From: Ary Boender Date: Mar 23, 2007 8:10 PM Subject: [udxf] SDR radio screenshots To: udxf All, Jean sent me several screenshots that he wants to share with you. He has made them using his new SDR (Software Defined Radio). You can find them in the "Files/UDXF ute info files" section. He says "One of the beauty of such radios is that you can just "see" any effects what you do to, say, your antenna or your noise reduction tentatives. I have made rough comparisons between my Icom PCR 1000 and AR 7030 and this Ciao radio is better than the PCR and equivalent to the AR in term of sensitivity. However, the tuning is so simple and the filters are at a click of the mouse. It is far better than any other receivers I had -and I had a lot." Enjoy your new radio Jean and don't forget to share your logs with us. 73, Ary
The loop has a diameter of 60cm and can be coiled up for trabnsport in a ring of 25cm diameter. This is a wideband antenna and does not require tuning. The two BNC outputs can feed two receivers independently, without influencing each other. The power is supplied either by USB or an external power supply (12V, max. 50mA), The antenna box has the same dimensions like the CIAORadio itself, so it can be easily stacked on top and connected with short coax cables.
Of course this antenna can be used with any other receiver as well, not only the CIAOradio.

As a successor to the well known IC-PCR100 Icom offers the IC-PCR1500. The IC-PCR1500 is a "black-box" connected to a computer. ALternatively the IC-R1500 is available which includes all components of the IC-PCR1500 but with an additonal remote control head for use without computer.
The IC-PCR1500 covers all frequencies from 10kHz to 3299MHz. Possible modes are AM, FM, WFM, USB, LSB and CW (the latter three modes only up to 1900MHz). The receiver is connected via USB to the PC. The supplied software offers a lot of functions to control the IC-PCR1500. Depending on requirements or personal taste various screen setups are possible. The surveillance mode allows to watch up to 25 channels nearly simultaneously. With the bandscope up to 5MHz wide segments can be monitored. The new "time-scope" function allows the recording of signal levels for a time frame of up to 110 minutes, the AF output is disabled with these function when the monitored segment is larger than 499kHz. Further the IC-PCR1500 offers the possibility to record signals as WAV file, of course only actively recording when the channel is busy. The receiver offers a very fast scan speed of up to 60 channels/second (actual scan speed depending on PC). Further the IC-PCR1500 offers many more options and fucntions, the Icom datasheet gives you all the details.
The IC-R1500 has all the functions of the above mentioned IC-PCR1500, but comes with an additional remote control head. This allows operation without a PC, for example when mobile or portable. the IC-R1500 can store up to 1000 frequencies in 21 memory banks.
NB: The IC-PCR1500 can not be retrofitted with the control head.
The Icom IC-PCR2500 and IC-R2500 are similiar to the above mentioned receivers IC-PCR1500/R1500 with the following extensions:

Wideband Communications Receiver
Put the Miracle Ducker IL on your broadband-handheld portable, and open up a world of HF receive you never thought possible!
Most popular broadband rigs like the VX1-7, THF6A, IC1-10 and others are just plain dead when it comes to receiving AM, HF ham bands or shortwave with the supplied rubber duck antenna. They say, "Use a large outdoor antenna for these bands." So what's handheld about that?
Now the Ducker IL (inline) gives you all the portable performance you've wanted. The Ducker provides as much as a whopping 30dB gain on low-frequency receive, using the original rubber duck. Ham, shortwave, even AM broadcast comes booming in like you've never heard before!
The Ducker IL plugs right into your radio, with the original rubber duck mounted on top. The exclusive Miracle Whip C-VAT autotransformer tuning system lets you dial in the frequency of your choice with convenient, single knob tuning, peaking up receive signals that you never thought you'd hear on your radio.
And you retain full access to VHF/UHF transmit with just a click of the dial. Imagine - your little handheld now receives everything from AM broadcast up to high UHF, and you can still operate 2 meters, 220 and 450 with the same antenna. Finally your rig lives up to its promise!
