The Maxi-Core Balun from DX-Engineering is characterised by extreme robustness and high performance. The 1:1 5kW balun offers very good transmission efficiency over a wide frequency range. Thus, the RF energy is transmitted as far as possible and is not converted into heat loss. This ensures better efficiency and performance of the antenna system.
Due to the careful mechanical design of the Maxi:Core balun, an exact balancing of the signal is achieved. This reduces parasitic current and thus HF in the shack. The coax connection is a silver-plated PL socket with PTFE dielectric, the connection to the dipole or chicken wire consists of two large, insulated screw terminals.
This balun is intended for use with wideband multiband antennas matched with a tuner. This balun is not suitable for use with narrowband monoband antennas with low SWR at the resonance point. The balun housing has mounting tabs for attachment to a mast, boom or wall.
This 1:1 "T" model is intended for the forced feeding of antennas with a tuner. To be used either at the feed point of a non-resonant dipole with coax feed (doublet) or at the transition of a twin wire to coax. This model tolerates operation at high SWR on non-resonant multiband antennas. To achieve higher efficiency, this balun is normally used at the end of a twin wire cable of any impedance feeding a non-resonant doublet dipole. If higher losses are acceptable, the balun can be mounted in the feed point of a coaxially fed antenna. In both cases, however, not all frequencies are available on a single dipole, as it is a choke balun and not a tuner.
