FME Panel Connector, solder
FME plugs are sometimes also called 'SAP' or 'Nipple' plugs and are mainly used in the telephone and automotive sector. The designation plug and socket is unusual: an FME socket is the part that has an external thread, the inner conductor is designed as a cup. An FME plug is then the one on the device and has an internal thread and the inner conductor as a pin.
One advantage of FME plugs is their compact design, which results in slim plugs that are hardly thicker than the cable in the case of RG-58. With the appropriate adapters, you can then quickly put together corresponding cables with different connectors.
At WiMo, FME is used for many antenna combiners for cars, as well as for the Allgon antennas.
Some of the plugs offered here are crimp plugs. This means that they are not soldered on, but the outer braiding is put on a shaft, a sleeve is put over it and then it is pressed shut with a special crimping tool. The inner conductor is usually always soldered. We are happy to supply the necessary tools: Crimping pliers and other cable tools.
