Supply Scope

  • DXP 24-bit sound card interface
  • USB 2.0 to USB-B cable; 170 cm

The development of the DXP soundcard interface had two main goals:

  • better decoding due to modern 24-bit audio architecture
  • very easy setup and configuration

microHAM's DXP interface uses a 24-bit AD converter to digitize the received audio signal. The subsequent processing of the data also takes place with this very high resolution. The result is a much larger dynamic range, i.e. the ability to recognize even very quiet signals with the simultaneous presence of very loud signals safely and reliably. This results in improved decoding even under difficult circumstances, for example with a large number of FT-8 signals simultaneously. This very high resolution is particularly useful for phase modulated signals such as FT-8, JT65 or PSK-31.

Another innovation from microHAM is the consistent use of standard-compliant USB device classes for the interface. This means that the DXP no longer needs its own drivers on current operating systems, as they are all already available. This applies to Windows from version 7 as well as to current MacOS and Linux versions. The formerly common 'urouter' software from microHAM is no longer needed, the setup is done via the easy to read OLED display on the DXP interface. As a further simplification, the manufacturer has replaced the earlier common jumpers with electronic switches. The DXP interface can easily be used with various radio devices. Ready-made cables for over 20 different transceiver types are available for connection to the radio.

But of course the DXP interface can do more than just digital modes such as RTTY and FT-8. A CAT interface with level converter is built in for all common radio types. Here, too, the consistent galvanic isolation between radio and computer is used, which ensures that no hum loops can occur. Furthermore, the latest WinKey chip from K1EL is installed, which makes it easy to precisely key the transmitter in telegraphy. The memory of the Memory-Keyers are unerringly accessible via the large keys on top of the DXP, even if it has to go fast. Furthermore there is the possibility to connect an external USB keyer for the keyer. Of course you can also use a telegraphy paddle. One PTT input and one PTT output offers everything you need for integration into your own station, even if you are using a power amplifier.
