Optimal Reception with Computer Aided Tuning (CAT) Interfaces
Today, the CAT function (Computer Aided Tuning) is part of every radio, no matter if it is a desktop station, a handheld radio or a radio for the car. In most cases, CAT support allows the frequency and operating mode to be controlled from a PC, for example by a log program. Furthermore, in many cases it is possible to make all settings conveniently on the computer screen, as well as to program the numerous memories.
Many radios require a CAT interface to connect to the PC. Usually the level between the devices has to be adjusted here, but in many cases the data format is also changed. Some CAT interfaces are offered with suitable software for controlling the radio, in other cases the radio manufacturers offer appropriate programs.
