Protect your valuable radio technology with the ACOM L-PROT 2000 – a lightning protection device for TX/RX systems in the frequency range from 1.8 to 54 MHz and up to 2 kW power. This device is ideal for coaxial cables that do not carry DC power.

Effective protection for your system

The L-PROT 2000 offers more than just lightning protection:

• Neutralizes static charges at the antenna and reduces interference (e.g. from wind, rain or snow).
• Prevents DC currents from flowing between the input and output to avoid damage.
• Integrated air spark gaps also provide protection in the event of nearby lightning strikes. These solid voltage limiters have a longer lifespan than conventional gas discharge tubes.

Easy installation and operation

The device is bidirectional, so that the input and output can be used equally. Both ports are marked identically (“IN/OUT”) and can be used flexibly. A grounding connection with a wing nut enables a reliable connection to the building ground. Ideally, it should be mounted outside the shack, e.g. in a control cabinet or weather-protected on the outer wall of the building, close to the lightning protection grounding.

How does the L-PROT 2000 work?

Lightning strikes generate electromagnetic impulses whose energy is mainly in the LW/VLF range. The L-PROT 2000 efficiently attenuates these low-frequency components and completely blocks DC current impulses. Massive air spark gaps limit the voltage in an emergency and also withstand multiple strikes.
