GSM/LTE Mobile Phone Antennas

The radio technology of mobile phones has its own challenges. No matter whether you use LTE (4G), UMTS (3G) or the classic GSM - a better antenna helps to achieve a more stable and faster connection. Due to the relatively high frequencies used in LTE, UMTS and GSM, walls and coated glass windows have a very high attenuation. As a result, reception in buildings is often very poor and not stable. Especially when using an LTE or GSM router, an external mobile phone antenna helps a lot.

WiMo offers a wide range of antennas for LTE, and UMTS, but also for other telephone systems such as DECT and the well-known GSM system. Whether GSM-900 on 900 MHz or GSM-1800 on 1800 MHz we have the right antenna and also the right cable for it. Just ask us.

FAQ

What is the GSM antenna?
A GSM antenna is an antenna specially designed for mobile communications (telephony) that is used to transmit signals in the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) network. GSM is the most widely used standard for mobile telephony worldwide. These antennas are tuned to the GSM frequency bands (mostly 900 MHz and 1800 MHz in Europe and some other regions, 850 MHz and 1900 MHz in the US and other countries) and allow cell phones and GSM-based devices to communicate effectively with the base stations of the to communicate via mobile phone network. They come in different shapes and sizes depending on the application - from small, integrated antennas in cell phones to large base station antennas on buildings or masts.

How does an LTE antenna work?
An LTE antenna is a specialized RF design optimized to receive and transmit signals in different LTE frequency bands. LTE stands for Long Term Evolution and is a standard for wireless broadband communications for mobile devices and data terminals. The antenna converts electromagnetic waves from the LTE signal into electrical signals that can be received or sent by a mobile device or an LTE router. For an LTE antenna to operate effectively, it is necessary that it is designed according to the frequency bands used for LTE in the respective region. The antennas can be of various shapes, including panel, yagi or omnidirectional antennas, and should be correctly placed and oriented for optimal reception.

Why do you need two LTE antennas?
LTE basically uses two antennas of different polarization to specifically promote and exploit multipath propagation. This process is called MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) and can also be expanded for more than two antennas. MIMO uses multiple antennas on the transmitter and receiver to transmit and receive multiple data streams simultaneously. This leads to more efficient use of the available frequency spectrum and thus increases the transmission speed. Additionally, using two antennas in various configurations can help minimize signal problems caused by reflections and obstacles, improving overall connection stability and quality.
