Technical description

The EAntenna Yagis with LFA dipole are characterized by particularly low noise. This is achieved by the low impedance and in-phase fed dipole, which lies flat on the boom. This design results in fewer sidelobes and side lobes that could pick up terrestrial noise. The dipole is clamped directly to the coaxial cable, no balun is needed, thus there is no power limitation.

Application description

  • The short 3-element Yagi has the advantage of being small and compact. The relatively wide aperture angle makes it particularly suitable for beacon observation.

  • The 4-element Yagi for the 6m band has a length of only 3m and thus usually fits on the mast or roof. With its relatively wide beamwidth and moderate gain, it is well suited for occasional operation on the 6m band.

  • The 5-element Yagi is offered in several variants by EAntenna, with different lengths:
The "5" model with 4.48m boom length provides 10.6 dBi gain in free space, 16.5 dBi when mounted 20m above ground.
The model "5S" with shortened boom 10.8 dBi gain in free space.
The "5L" model with long boom (5.72m) provides 11.2 dBi gain in free space, 17.1 dBi when mounted at 20m above ground.
The "5XL" model with extra long boom (5.92m) is optimized for the best possible gain with this number of elements, the gain is 11.79 dBi in free space.

  • The 6-element LFA Yagi is also offered in several variants with different boom lengths.
The model "6" with the boom length of 695 cm has a gain of 11.7 dBi (free space), The antenna is supplied with a guy wire.
Model "6S" is the shortest model with 6 elements. The boom length is 613 cm. The antenna is supplied with a guy wire.
The model "6M" is optimized for the best forward/backward ratio: 30.81 dB.  The boom is only 633 cm long. The antenna is supplied with a guy wire.
The model "6XL" with extra-long boom has slightly more gain than an antenna with a shorter boom, but the front/rear ratio deteriorates slightly.

  • The 7-element Yagi represents a good compromise in terms of length and gain: still under 10m boom length, and yet a whopping 12.9 dBi gain in free space. The antenna is supplied with a guy wire.

  • The 8-element Yagi offers an excellent gain of 14 dBi (free space) at a length of 12.6m. The stepped square boom has an edge length of 50mm in the middle and 45mm at the ends. The antenna is supplied with an 8-element bracing. which on their own supports (parallel to the elements) keep the antenna stable.
The 8-element "HD" variant offers an excellent gain of 14 dBi (free space) at a length of 12.6m. Unlike the 50LFA8 (without HD), this model has a reinforced boom with 60x60mm edge length in the middle and 50x50mm at the ends. This makes the antenna heavier, it comes in two packages. The antenna is supplied with an 8-element yagi, which are attached to their own supports (parallel to the elements) to keep the antenna stable.

  • The 9-element Yagi provides 14.7 dBi gain (free space) with a boom length of 15.1m. The reinforced, stepped boom has an edge length of 60x60mm in the middle and 50x50mm at the ends. The antenna is supplied with guy wires.

  • The variant with 10 elements and a length of 17.8m is already a very massive gun, which does not fit into every garden. But in return there is plenty of gain: 15.2 dBi in free space or a massive 21dBi when considering ground effects (mounting in 20m height). The scope of delivery includes a bracing of the boom. The stepped square boom has an edge length of 60mm in the middle and 45mm at the ends.
