Technical description
A fan dipole consists of individual monoband dipoles that are combined on a common balun. The dipole wires are arranged one below the other and kept at a constant distance with spreaders. The longest (top) dipole is braced, it carries the dipoles hanging below it. In the 80m and 40m dipoles, the longest band has an extension coil in each dipole side to reduce the overall length. The antenna is equipped with insulators and two 5m pieces of guy wire are included. The balun is a 1:1 current balun (aka choke, sheath wave block), it balances the signal. Connection PL socket, load capacity 1500 or 3000 W depending on the model.
Application description
The fan dipole enjoys a good reputation because it achieves an efficiency similar to that of a mono-band dipole - only for several bands. Only one feed line is needed, because all dipoles are brought together on a common balun. The suspension is the same as for a conventional dipole, either straight (b'stretched) or angled downwards (inverted-vee). The EAntenna fan dipole must be assembled and aligned for commissioning. Since mutual interference between the dipoles cannot be ruled out, you should allow some time for the adjustment. The length of the coaxial cable is irrelevant for the function of the antenna.
