Technical description
The EAntenna Sloper is a monoband Lambda/4 antenna with a shortening coil to reduce the length of the antenna. The feed point is at the top of the mast, the mast acts as a reflector. This antenna does not contain a balun, but you can easily use a choke (1:1 balun, sheath wave block) at the feed point. The antenna wire is 2mm thick and protected against UV radiation for long life. The max. permissible transmitting power is 2 kW.
80m SLoper: required mast height for 45° rigging approx. 9.3m.
160m SLoper: required mast height for 45° rigging approx. 14.2m.
Application description
Like all sloper antennas, this antenna works like a vertical antenna with a low elevation angle of the main lobe. This gives very good results for DX. Due to the mast there is a directivity, the mast acts as a reflector. If a wooden mast or another non-conductive mast is used, a cable must be laid down from the feed point.
The advantage of the sloper antenna results from the very simple installation, its flat radiation and the easy adjustment. The bandwidth does not cover the entire band, the minimum is at the lower end of the band (CW range). To adjust the antenna for the SSB range, it must be shortened slightly at the lower end, 5cm is usually sufficient.
