Ecoflex-5 Coaxial Cable

Ecoflex 5 from the German manufacturer SSB Electronic is a thin and highly flexible coaxial cable for the frequency range up to 6 GHz. The low attenuation and extremely small bending radius of this cable with an outer diameter of 5.5 mm make it interesting and recommendable for many applications in high-frequency technology.

The low attenuation values of Ecoflex 5 are achieved by using a low-loss PE-LLC dielectric with a gas content of over 70%. This lightweight material is also resistant to moisture. The inner conductor of Ecoflex 5 consists of 19 individual stranded wires, each with a diameter of 0.287 mm, made of low-oxygen copper. This structure of the inner conductor enables the cable's compressive flexibility. 

To achieve good shielding attenuation, the outer conductor of Ecoflex 5 has a two-layer design: a copper shielding braid with a coverage of 80% is applied to a thin, overlapping copper foil. The foil is PE-coated on the inside and thus protected against cracking if the bending radius is too small. 

Ecoflex 5 is an innovative and versatile coaxial cable for numerous applications: it is extremely flexible, has very low attenuation and offers good protection against interference radiation.
