Questions & Answers
Are FM and FM the same thing?
FM (Frequency Modulation) and VHF (Ultra Shortwave) are not the same, although they are often used in the context of broadcasting. FM refers to a type of modulation in which the frequency of the carrier signal varies to transmit information. VHF refers to a frequency range, more precisely the ultra-short wave band, which ranges from 87.5 to 108 MHz and is typically used for broadcasting. FM modulation is often used in this band, so the terms are sometimes confused. In amateur radio, FM is also used in other frequency ranges such as the VHF and UHF bands.
