Questions & Answers
How does an antenna receive waves?
An antenna receives waves by picking up the energy of electromagnetic waves emitted by a transmitter. When these electromagnetic waves hit the antenna, they induce a corresponding alternating electrical voltage in the antenna, which is then conducted along the connected coaxial cable to the receiver. An antenna's efficiency at receiving waves depends on several factors, including its size, shape, orientation, and the frequency range for which it is designed.
