When is lightning protection mandatory?

Lightning protection is mandatory if the antenna system is mounted above the roof and is therefore the highest point of the building. The relevant national and international regulations, such as the German lightning protection standard DIN EN 62305, must be observed. In addition, it is advisable to take appropriate protective measures even for antenna systems that are not at the highest points in order to protect people in buildings as well as radio and other electronic devices from the consequences of a lightning strike.
