Which radio for a blackout?
In the event of a blackout, it is important to have a radio that can operate independently of the power grid. Ideally, the device should work with rechargeable batteries or accumulators that can also be charged via solar panels, hand cranks or other alternative energy sources. A robust handheld radio designed for emergency radio would be a good choice as it is mobile and can be used in a variety of situations. Make sure that the device supports the amateur radio frequencies for emergency radio (e.g. 2 meter or 70 centimeter bands) to ensure good communication with other radio amateurs in times of emergency.
