Technical description 16JXXADS-B
The 16JXXADS-B is a 16-element Yagi antenna for the reception of ADS-B signals on 1090 MHz. The design provides good directivity while rejecting interference that is not in the main receive direction.
The antenna is of extremely rugged construction. The one-piece, 1.45 m long boom can be attached to masts with diameters of 35 - 60 mm using the included mounting material (foremast mounting). For connection of the coaxial cable, the antenna has an N jack at the loop dipole.
Application description 16JXXADS-B
While traditional airborne radar tracks aircraft by reflecting transmitted radar waves, ADS-B actively transmits position data from aircraft to the surrounding area. In this process, the participants determine their own position independently using navigation satellites and send this data to the environment in standardized form via the 1090 MHz frequency.
If the antenna is installed at an exposed location with good obstacle clearance, even ADS-B signals can be received from longer distances of up to 1000 km. By vertically stoking the 16JXXADS-B, the gain can be further optimized and thus, for example, an even greater range can be achieved.
