Antenna Tuner mAT-30 for Yaesu

Technical description

The mAT-30 is an automatic antenna tuner for the frequency range from 1.8 to 54 MHz. The tuner is compatible with a wide range of Yaesu devices, see list. The maximum transmit power is 120 W PEP, as minimum tuning power 100 mW is sufficient. Continuous modes such as FM, RTTY and FT8 must not use more than 30 watts transmit power. The mAT-30 has PL sockets for transceiver and antenna as well as a ground connection.

The tuner tunes antennas in an impedance range of about 5 to 1500 ohms, which is far more than the usual built-in tuners can manage. Power is supplied via the included cable from the radio, or alternatively via a separate 12 V socket.

Version 1 of the mAT-30 supports the following Yaesu radios: FT-100D, FT-950, FT-450D, FT-891, FT-991, FT-DX3000, FT-857D, FT-897D, FT-991A.

Version 2 of the mAT-30 supports all version 1 devices plus the Yaesu FT-710 transceiver.

Application description

With the mAT-30, tuning the antenna on Yaesu radios is extremely simplified. By using the supplied cable, the "Tune" button on almost all transceivers can be used to start the tuning process.

Thus, the radio automatically switches to low power and telegraphy and transmits a low power carrier. When the tuning process is complete, the radio switches back to the previously set operating mode and transmitting power. Once found, tuning values are stored in one of the 16000 memories.
