Supply Scope

  • MLA-S antenna
  • Coupling loop with BNC connection

Technical description

The MLA-S Magnetic Loop antenna uses a patented tuning system that allows a relatively small loop to be used over a wide frequency range. A metal surface is inserted into the cavity of the loop tube, which acts as an additional capacitor. Together with the tuning capacitor and the coupling loop, this results in an LC circuit with a very wide tuning range. An average circuit quality Q of approx. 250 is achieved. The SWR is usually 1:1.1 to 1:1.2. The maximum transmit power is 40 W on all bands except 40m. On 40m only max. 20 W are allowed. Connection BNC, weight approx. 1.6 kg

Application description

The MLA-S is an excellent portable antenna for small to medium power up to max. 40W. The relatively small loop diameter of approx. 85 cm allows you to take this antenna with you in your car and set it up, for example, when you are on holiday. For easier installation, the antenna has a 1/4 inch tripod thread at the bottom, which allows it to be easily mounted on a photo tripod.

To tune the MLA-S, one of three frequency ranges (80-60 m, 40 m, 30-10 m) must be selected via a jumper. The exact tuning is then achieved via the tuning condenser. In some cases, the shape of the coupling loop must be adjusted. In the V4 version, an LED is built into the capacitor unit as a tuning aid, which greatly facilitates tuning.

The connection is a BNC socket, an adapter to PL is included.

Maximum transmit power 80-60m, 30-10m: 40 Watt
