Technical description BARRY II+

With the Barry II+, the well-known French manufacturer President presents a CB radio with a switchable country standard, which, thanks to its simple operation, is also aimed at newcomers with high expectations in terms of quality and features. Thanks to the flexible power supply of either 12 or 24 volts, it can be used in both cars and commercial vehicles without any problems.

The handheld microphone with an electret element included in the scope of delivery ensures good modulation and enables fast channel changing via up/down buttons. The connection is made via a six-pole socket on the front panel. The channel selection on the device itself is also done via up/down buttons; two independent control dials are available for setting the manual squelch and the volume.

The large and high-contrast LCD display is easy to read at all times, especially when used on the go. In addition to the active channel, the strength of the incoming signal is displayed in 4 levels, the selected operating mode and standard are displayed, and much more. In the standard “D” applicable for Germany, the Barry II+ has 80 channels FM and 40 channels AM, of course with the maximum permissible transmission power of 4 watts.

On the rear panel, in addition to the antenna connection (PL socket), there are further connections for an external loudspeaker, a PA announcement loudspeaker and a VOX microphone.

Application description BARRY II+

The President Barry II+ literally offers “endless” possibilities. Thanks to the adjustable device standard, cross-border operation is possible without any problems, regardless of whether you are a professional truck driver or on vacation in a motorhome. The large multifunction display shows all important operating conditions at a glance and can be perfectly adapted to the interior lighting of your vehicle in seven different colors.

The President-patented ASC squelch (automatic squelch control) ensures particular comfort in daily use by muting background noise during pauses in conversation. Manual adjustment is of course possible, but in most cases no longer necessary. The integrated, customizable VOX function increases safety on the road and enables voice-controlled sending without pressing the PTT button on the microphone; hands can thus remain on the steering wheel as prescribed.

The President's typical USB port can be used to charge a cell phone or tablet while on the go, which is especially practical if there is no USB port available in the vehicle or the existing ports are already in use by fellow travelers.

But the Harrison II also cuts a fine figure as a “home station”, not least thanks to its good features and easy operation. In this case, please do not forget to order a suitable 12-volt power supply.

Would you like to try out your own modulation? No problem, when using the talkback function, your own voice is played back over the built-in speaker. Speaking of modulation: when the noise gate function is activated, you can filter out unwanted background noise at the touch of a button so that your conversation partners can understand you perfectly in any situation.
