IC-9700 PTT Multiplier

The Icom IC-9700 multiband transceiver operates on the 2m, 70cm and 23 cm bands. However, it is subject to the restriction that only one PTT output is available for operation with linear amplifiers. For these three frequency ranges, however, separate amplifiers are usually required for each band and you are faced with the challenge of how to control these amplifiers individually when transmitting on the desired band.

Probably the simplest and most convenient solution is the innovative PTT multiplier from anteni.net in Bulgaria. It was specially developed for use with the Icom IC-9700 and IC-9100 devices and allows the connection and use of a separate power amplifier for each of 144, 430 and 1296 MHz. The PTT multiplier automatically recognizes the currently selected operating range based on the CI-V band data from the transceiver and switches to the correct power amplifier for the currently active frequency band without any further interaction by the user. A status LED provides monitoring of the selected setting at all times.

Connection and commissioning are just as simple and can be completed in no time at all. The PTT multiplier is simply connected to the radio using the supplied cable and the amplifiers are connected. An external power source is not required as the supply voltage (12 V DC) is provided by the ACC connection.
