Wire antennas for shortwave reception are very popular, and there are numerous configuration options designed to offer the best possible effectiveness for the respective application. If you want to experiment with different setups and wire lengths, it quickly becomes apparent that changing the configuration requires additional accessories, such as a balun with a different transmission ratio.

QRO.CZ has recognized this fact and with this two-piece set offers an innovative basis for wire antennas, supplemented by numerous useful functions that will sustainably improve your shortwave reception and offer maximum flexibility.

The centerpiece is the "Feed Point Preamp Box", whose function is by no means limited to a preamplifier, as the name might suggest at first glance. In addition to the amplifier (+18 dB), there are other highlights in the robust housing:

• Adjustable attenuator
• Selectable transmission ratio (1:4, 1:9, 1:16)
• Switchable low-pass filter (11 MHz)
• HF limiter on the input side
• Power supply via coaxial cable (when using an external "bias tee" (remote power supply)

This not only eliminates the need to transport and connect numerous components and additional devices, especially for portable operation, fieldday or on vacation, but also makes set-up and commissioning quick and easy.

Thanks to its wide range of setting options, this powerful system offers a large spectrum of possible set-ups for your wire antennas.

The following antennas, among others, can be realized - in perfect harmony with the available space and taking into account existing structures in the area:

• "BOG", Beverage over Ground
• Classic Beverage setup with horizontal antenna wire at a height of approx. 0.5 - 4 m
• K9AY Loop
• Delta
• Flag

The terminator used ("terminator box") forms the second module of this system. It can be configured using jumper settings and enables four different resistance values to be set, namely 230, 320, 450 and 900 ohms. An additional jumper allows a further 50 ohms to be added to each of these four values if required. The components of the terminator box are protected against overcurrent and overvoltage. Two screw terminals with wing nuts are available as connections.

The connections of the "Feed Point Preamp Box" and the "Terminator Box" are clearly labeled. This ensures error-free set-up in the shortest possible time.
