PMR - License-free Radios
License-free radio has gained great importance in recent years. The so-called PMR service - Public Mobile Radio - is available to all interested parties for private or commercial use. You don't need a radio license or any other permission. This regulation is uniformly regulated in most countries of the European Union, so nothing stops you from using conforming radios abroad.
Frequent applications are communication within a group of friends, for example on the ski slope or during a hike. The teamwork of workpersons is greatly facilitated by the improved communication, whether on stage or out in the woods.
The range of PMR radios is mandated by technical specifications and environmental factors. Depending on the type of area, outdoor ranges of up to several kilometres are possible, and only a few hundred metres inside a concrete building. But that is enough for the reliable coordination of working groups in a team - via PMR two-way radios. WiMo offers classic analogue PMR radios as well as digital dPMR radios.
