Discover the world of amateur radio on shortwave with our high-quality EF1040-100 end-fed antennas for the 40, 20, 15 and 10 meter bands or EF1080-100 for the 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meter bands - classics that have stood the test of time!

End-fed wire antennas are very popular with radio amateurs. One of the first examples of its use was the Zepp antenna, which was originally used on Zeppelin airships during the First World War! The main characteristic of the end-fed antenna is that it is fed at one end, at a point where the resistance is very high (around 2500/5000 ohms). These antennas are characterized by their versatility, as they can be operated on different bands with an acceptable matching ratio using a long half-wave radiator and an impedance transformer.

The main components of the end-fed antenna are the radiating element, consisting of coated copper core wire, and a broadband impedance transformer with a ratio of 1:49. This UnUn is used to convert the resistance of the feed point to a value close to 50 ohms.

The radiation pattern of this antenna behaves like that of a half-wave dipole with the familiar shape of an "8". As the length increases, the radiation pattern changes and additional radiation lobes are formed, with the maximum radiation deviating from the perpendicular orientation to the wire axis.

The antennas are supplied pre-assembled and ready to use. All hardware components are made of stainless steel and the radiating element is made of UV-resistant copper wire.

To prevent sheath waves along the shielding of the coaxial cable, we recommend the use of a line insulator (not included). The correct position for this RF choke is between 0.05 and 0.3 lambda. This prevents unwanted interference and ensures smooth operation of the antenna.

By installing it at a height of at least 10 meters and free of obstacles, you will achieve excellent impedance matching on all specified bands (better than 2:1). If required, you can improve the matching with an internal or external tuner.
The EF1040-100 and EF1080-100 are not only ideal for permanent installation, but can also be used as a portable antenna due to their weight of well under one kilogram. Whether SOTA, POTA or fieldday, thanks to the various configuration options, they can always be optimally adapted to the local conditions. The antenna can be set up as a sloper, "L" or simply stretched horizontally.

The robust housing with the 1:49 transformer offers a high level of protection against water ingress. Any condensation inside can drain away through two openings near the connection. Make sure that these holes are clear and always point downwards.
