Technical description G106

The Xiegu G106 uses the latest SDR technology to provide an easy to use QRP transceiver in a small package. The LC display (dot matrix, black/white) is easy to read and offers a spectrum display on request. All operating modes such as LSB/USB, CW and AM are supported, and a WFM radio receiver for VHF (88-108 MHz) is also available.

The G106 offers 5 watts of transmit power at 13.8 V supply voltage, the maximum current consumption is 2.8 A, in receive mode the transceiver requires approx. 370 mA.

The available connectors allow the connection of an interface for data modes such as RTTY, PSK31 or FT-8, and the manufacturer also offers an optional USB interface with galvanic isolation (DE-19). The ACC socket also provides band data outputs and all signals for controlling a power amplifier such as the XPA125B. A CAT signal is used for remote control. The antenna is connected to a BNC socket.

Application description G106

With the G106, Xiegu offers a well-equipped QRP transceiver at an extremely favourable price. The G106 offers everything you would expect from a small radio - 5 Watt transmit power on the amateur radio bands, a continuous receiver and even a radio steam receiver for VHF (WFM).

Friends of telegraphy will find everything they need to start immediately in CW with the three switchable CW FIlters and the built-in Iambic keyer. A microphone is also included in the scope of delivery, so that SSB can be used just as easily. Operation is via relatively few keys and a compact menu with only 17 positions (SW version 1.08).
The clear LC display shows the operating mode and the frequency as well as a spectrum, so you are always informed about the band assignment. A number of memories (50) are available for the most important frequencies such as beacons or fixed call channels. The switchable preamplifier sometimes provides the necessary reserves, especially on the higher bands.
