Technical description Z-100A
The LDG Z-100A is an automatic antenna tuner for shortwave up to 6m. The
tuner tunes all coax fed antennas like dipoles, verticals etc. For
certain wire antennas a LDG 1:4 or 1:1 balun can be used.
Tuning
is done automatically and when using the supplied cable with an Icom
radio, by pressing the "Tune" button on the radio. This cable also
supplies power to the tuner. When tuning for the first time, the values
found are stored in one of 2000 memories; if the same frequency is used
again later, the values are read from the memory. Tuning thus takes less
than a second.
The maximum permissible transmit power is 125 W
PEP (SSB, AM, CW) or 30 W for digimodes (FT-8, RTTY etc.) The tuning
range is 4 to 800 ohms.
Application description Z-100A
The Z-100A makes life easier on shortwave. You don't always have optimally tuned antennas at your disposal, so a tuner has to take care of the necessary adjustment.
The Z-100A works with coaxial fed antennas like windom, dipole or zepp antennas, but also with verticals or loops. The tuning range of 4 to 800 ohms can compensate for a mismatch of 10:1, which is far more than most built-in tuners can do.
Operation is automatic with most Icom transceivers, either by pressing the "Tune" button, or when pressing the PTT button. The supplied cable with the 4-pin Icom tuner connector can be used with most Icom transceivers made in the last 30 years. Check the manual for details: If your radio supports the Icom AH-4 tuner you can use the LDG Z-100A without any problems.
